Meaning
An ear fitted with a hearing aid tucked behind it. Literally it represents hearing loss and the device that helps.
It is used in conversations about deafness, being hard of hearing, audiology and accessibility, and by people who wear hearing aids to describe themselves. It can also remind others to speak clearly or turn on captions. Skin-tone versions exist. Example: “Please turn on captions for the video call, thanks 🦻”.
