Meaning
A red heart split down the middle by a jagged crack, sometimes drawn with the halves pulled apart. It stands for heartbreak and deep disappointment: a breakup, a loss, or news that hurts.
It works for genuine sorrow and, just as often, for playful exaggeration: “They canceled my favorite show after one season 💔” In sympathy messages it shows you share the pain. Reacting with it to a friend’s happy news, even jokingly, as in “why didn’t you invite me,” can confuse people who take it at face value.
