Meaning
A dark disc, sometimes with a faint outline, showing the moon at the start of its cycle when the side facing Earth is unlit. It is the first of the eight moon-phase emoji.
People use it for new beginnings, intention-setting and stargazing nights with no moonlight, or simply to mean darkness: โNew moon ๐ tonight, perfect for spotting the Milky Way.โ Do not confuse it with ๐, the dark moon with a face, which carries a cheeky meaning instead.
