Meaning
A sharp zigzag shape that resembles a bold letter M or a jagged chart line. It comes from Japanese, where this mark shows where a singer’s part begins in traditional songs and chants.
Outside Japan it is mostly used for its looks: as a stylised M, as a rising and falling trend line, or as decoration in usernames: “Sales this month 〽️ up and down like a rollercoaster” It is not a real letter, so using it in a name can make that name harder for others to search.
