Meaning
A tamale wrapped in a corn husk, with the soft masa dough and filling peeking out of the open end. Tamales are steamed parcels from Mexico and Central America, filled with meat, cheese, chilli or sweet ingredients.
It appears in chats about family cooking, holiday gatherings and regional food: “Grandma is making 🫔 for Christmas Eve, come hungry”. Making them is often a group job, so it carries a feeling of tradition. Don’t confuse it with 🌯; this one comes in a husk, not a tortilla.
