Meaning
A circle split by an S-shaped curve into a black half and a white half, each holding a small dot of the other colour. It comes from Chinese philosophy and Taoism, where yin and yang are opposite forces that complete each other.
People use it to talk about balance, opposites that attract or a day that mixes good and bad: “He’s chaos, I’m calm ☯️ that’s why it works” It also turns up in martial arts, tattoos and couple bios. The drawing itself is called the taijitu.
