Meaning

Colourful fish-shaped windsocks flying from a pole, the koinobori that Japanese families raise for Children’s Day.

The carp stands for strength and perseverance because of the legend of carp swimming upstream, so it is used for wishing children well and for determination: “Hang in there, swim upstream like a 🎏” It can also simply mean wind, kites or Japanese festivals.
