Meaning
An arrangement of cut bamboo stalks and pine branches, based on the kadomatsu that Japanese households place by their entrance for the New Year. The pine stands for long life and the bamboo for resilience.
It is a seasonal symbol for Japanese New Year greetings, longevity and welcoming good fortune: “Happy New Year from Osaka 🎍 wishing you a lucky year.” Outside Japan it is sometimes borrowed for bamboo, garden or zen themes, and it pairs well with 🎌 or 🗾.
