Four square styles
Square puts each letter in an outlined box: ๐ฝ๐ด๐ . Black square uses solid boxes with white letters and stands out the most: ๐ ฝ๐ ด๐. Alternating square mixes outlined and solid boxes: ๐ ๐๐ ๐ ฐ๏ธ๐ ๐ ด. Boxed is the odd one out: it keeps your original character and adds a box shape around it, Hโiโ, so it can frame digits and punctuation too, although how neatly the box lines up depends on the device.
Capitals only, and no accents
Unicode only has square versions of the 26 capital letters, so this generator converts lowercase to uppercase for you: โnewโ and โNEWโ both give ๐ฝ๐ด๐ . You donโt need to think about capitals while typing, because the result looks the same either way. Digits have no square form and stay as typed in the first three styles.
Accent marks are dropped too, since fonts canโt draw them on a box: โHร Nแปiโ becomes ๐ท๐ฐ ๐ฝ๐พ๐ธ, and โฤโ stays as typed. Use Boxed when you need to keep accents.
Tips for square letters
Square letters shout, so save them for one or two words: SALE, NEW, LIVE or a short tag in your bio. The solid A, B, O and P also exist as colorful emoji on many phones; this generator adds an invisible marker that asks for the plain version, but some apps may still show the emoji. Screen readers may read each square as a separate symbol, so never put a phone number or address in this style. Prefer rounder letters? See bubble text.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I see empty boxes instead of square letters?
The squared letters were added to Unicode later than most alphabets, so older devices and some fonts lack them and show placeholder boxes. The placeholder can look a lot like the style itself, so check that the letters are actually visible.
Why did my A turn into a red emoji?
The solid A, B, O and P double as emoji on many systems. This tool asks for the plain text version, but an app can ignore that request and show the emoji anyway.
Can I get lowercase square letters?
No. Unicode has no lowercase squared letters, so everything is shown in capitals.
